Stories from the Land

Driven by an unstoppable passion for top quality ingredients, Michela Tartaglia is the joyous crafter behind Pasta Casalinga’s award winning crossover dishes.
Born and raised in Torino, Michela spent her summers on her Italian family’s olive farm near Naples. What she brings now to the table of Pasta Casalinga is a set of secrets and techniques she inherited from her mother and grandmothers. Coming from a farming background, she couldn’t help but dedicate her life to making simple and delicious food.

From the Ocean

As a seaport city, Seattle’s charm is built on its wooded landscapes and the unique hydrological features of the Puget Sound basins, homeland of family run businesses of fishermen and fish-farmers. Based on daily availability, we select the most sustainably harvested and caught seafood from the cold PNW coast and river streams: fresh from the water shellfish, herring, black cod, salmon and tuna are only a few of the delicious species that make our ocean inspired pastas shine.

From the Farm

We always follow our grandmas’ teachings when it comes meat cooking and bring their secrets into our signatures (wild boar - beef - pork) ragù based recipes: it takes a lot of patience to get it right so you can also bring home our ready to use containers and use it as you like. All meats supplied by our friends at local WA state farms are always non-GMO, antibiotic & added hormone-free. Pigs are raised in the forest and turkeys, quails or chickens are pasture-raised with constant access to sun, fresh air and grass.

From the Garden

Every day for our pasta dishes we bring in-season Zero KM goodies from the Pike Place Market and our fellow local warehouses. Fresh from the garden greens and veggies, beets and roots, legumes and mushrooms, herbs and squashes: they all know when to join forces with our selection of meats and fish, when to marry our imported seasoned traditional Italian cheeses or to turn into creamy pestos.

Pomodoro

Tomatoes are Italy’s equivalent of golden apples. We can never have enough of this versatile juicy veggie that stands right at the heart of making the mediterranean diet so special.

Lasagna Casalinga

This creamy baked pasta dish bursting with earthy flavors is covered with a generous layer of our homemade Besciamella sauce and Parmigiano. Just like in Italy, lasagnas can turn any Sunday lunch into a feast.
